Biography

Who Isabella Hooton was is not definitively known. The first record of Isabella is her marriage to William Ingold on 7 November 1775 at St. George Church in Liverpool. However, a Isabella Hooton was the daughter of Richard Hooton, a schoolmaster from Orrell, as in her later life she lived in Orrell and her daughter married a schoolmaster. Isabella Hooton, daughter of Richard Hooton, was born in 1750 and baptized at St. Thomas the Martyr in Upholland.

Isabella Hooton and William Ingold lived in Liverpool for the first ten years of their marriage and had five children, all christened at St. Paul in the centre of Liverpool. Circa 1787, the family moved to Billinge, near Wigan, where William took up work as a colliery agent. There they had at least two more children. They moved from Billinge to Orrell and then to Pemberton.

We have no record of Isabella Hooton after the birth of her son William in 1792.
