Biography

Our first record of William Ingold is his marriage to Isabella Hooton on 7 November 1775 at St. George Church in Liverpool. The couple lived in Liverpool for the next ten years and had five children, all christened at St. Paul in the centre of Liverpool. Circa 1787, the family moved to Billinge near Wigan where William took up work as a colliery agent for “Mr. Blundell’s” coal mine, probably the mine in Orrell. There they had at least two more children and moved from Billinge to Orrell and then to Pemberton. William Ingold died in Pemberton in October 1824 and was buried in the churchyard at St. Thomas the Martyr.
