Research Notes

Sometime between 1881 and 1891 Evan seems to have lost his wife and remarried. The children of Janet Mawdsley seem to have been “sent away.” The markers remaining here are Evan ’s age, occupation, and son: Evan Jr. Also, this is the only Evan Mawdsley of the correct age in Lancashire in the 1891 census. I have been unable to find a death record for Janet Mawdsley as yet. I have located a possible re-marriage record for Evan Sr. Tryphane Mawdsley was boarding in North Meols in 1891. Daughter Ellen may be working as a servant in North Meols. No clue at this stage who Henry Fairhurst might be.
