Research Notes
Although William Harrison always reported that he was from Adlington, this William is clearly the third son of John Harrison and Elizbeth Ormandy. Heath Charnock borders Adlington to the north. John Harrison was certainly employed at the Leeds Liverpool canal which borders Heath Charnock to the west. A Canal Bank Ranger looked after all aspects of a section of the canal waterway including locks, canal traffic, licences, etc.
