Research Notes

This census record places Joseph Harrison and Ellen Ball with their three children in Blackrod on 7 April 1861. It is likely, although not certain, that Henry Harrison was born at this location a year earlier on 27 March 1860. Blundles Fold no longer exists and its original location is unknown. However immediately before visiting Blundles Fold the census taker visited Arley Gate House. Arley Lane today is the continuation to the west of Blundell Lane. Note also that Edward Harrison was born in Haigh, suggesting that Joseph and Ellen lived in Haigh shortly after they were married.
