Research Notes
The Parish Church in Wigan is All Saints. This is an excellent match to Ellen Ball’s uncle Daniel. He is the right age (born circa 1814). He has the right occupation – a cordwainer is a shoemaker. He is from Haigh. His father is Henry Ball, a farmer. Four months later at the time of the 1841 census Daniel and Ann Ball were residing at Arrowsmith Farm next door to Henry and Betty Ball. Ann Yates did not identify her father on the marriage register, was married before the 1841 census on June 6th, and will therefore be difficult to impossible to trace.
