Biography
Jenet was born in Shaw, Lancashire on January 12, 1848 to Peter and Tryphene Taylor. She was baptized at Shaw Chapel on February 13, 1848. Jenet was enumerated in the 1851 census living with her parents in Great Crosby, Lancashire. Jenet married Evan Mawdsley on August 1, 1868 in Blackrod. She was enumerated in the 1871 census living at the Corporation Inn, where Evan was the proprietor.
Between 1871 and 1881 Evan and had four children, Ellen, Thomas, Evan and Tryphena. The family moved from the Corporation Inn to the Vine Inn on Caroline Street. They were enumerated there in the 1881 census. Son Thomas was not mentioned in the 1881 census and had probably died. Jenet’s mother Tryphene, by then widowed, was living with the family.
Sometime during the 1880s the family moved again to the Fleece Hotel in Market Square, Wigan. Jenet died there of typhoid fever in October 1889.
