Biography
The first record of Alice is her marriage to John Harrison at St. Wilfrid’s Anglican church in Standish on 2 April 1771. The marriage register identifies her only as a spinster living in Standish. From this record, it is assumed Alice was born circa 1746 (most people of the day married in their mid-20s).
Insofar as has been determined, John and Alice spent their life farming in Coppull. They baptized five children at St Wilfrid’s between 1772 and 1789. However, there was an unusual nine-year gap in the baptisms between Peggy in 1777 and John in 1786. They may have had other children who were not baptized or were baptized in a different church.
