Research Notes
Morbus Cordis means heart disease. Mitral refers to a heart valve. Anasarca refers to fluid retention that often accompanies heart malfunction. Thorn Hill, Standish is located about 100m south of Boar’s Head at the modern day location of the Standish reservoir. It is therefore almost certain that Maria died at her father’s residence at the Standish Pumping Station.
