Witness.
It is highly likely that Joseph witnessed the marriage of John Thomas Unsworth and Mary Elizabeth Harrison on 9 Feb 1901. There was only one other Joseph Woods recorded in Wigan in the 1901 census, and he was a dozen years older than our Joseph and not living in Poolstock. Moreover, since Mary Elizabeth’s sister Martha was the other witness it is likely that Joseph was a friend of John Unsworth, although Joseph was about 6 years younger than John.
