Ann Williams lived on Scots Lane when she gave birth to Mary Elizabeth Williams in November 1866. This address is given on Mary Elizabeth’s birth register. Mary Elizabeth may have been the daughter of William Harrison (b. 1838), although William and Ann did not marry until 1870. At the time of the marriage Ann was living in Manchester.
We do not have a period map of Wigan that shows Scots Lane. There is a contemporary “Scot Lane” running north from Walgate to Woodhouse Drive.
